About the Author

Who am I? I’m a higher education consultant in the Northeast with an exceptionally diverse background in the field. Some of the various roles I’ve held have included academic adviser, admissions staffer, fundraising official, student activities adviser, academic affairs official, and more. I’ve taught in front of classrooms and in intensive tutoring and student development roles. I’ve worked at public and private institutions, small and large, co-ed and women’s, two-year and four-year. I’ve been a member of every type of college committee or board imaginable, and although I eventually ended up in administration, I missed the interaction with students and the general bustle of the world of student affairs. Aside from my day job, I remain active in the field as a member of several scholarship selection committees, an admissions fair organizer, and an adviser to two student organizations.

My own background in education was certainly non-traditional. I went from earning an Associate’s degree from a community college as a first-generation college student, to the world of elite liberal arts colleges and the Ivy League as an honors student. My research specialty is academic success for under-served populations. And yes, I still love learning enough to continue taking at least one course a semester just for my own enrichment.

For privacy and professional reasons, I will never reveal my name, position, institution, or other identifying characteristics through this blog. However, if you have general questions, feel free to contact me at HigherEdPro@gmail.com.
